Through collaborations with a very diverse group of organizations the City of Lakeland Parks & Recreation Department brings both experimental and traditional art to your parks. Below is a currect list with map to art currently on display. We also have invite you to explore past exhibits.

 

Past Exhibits

Swansation

A public art project in originating in downtown Lakeland responsible for bringing the community together to celebrate one of Lakeland's most well known celebrities, the swan. The majestic swan, widely considered the mascot of this community, is prevalent in much of its landscape. From murals, to pictures, & even sculptures, the swan lives not only at Lake Morton, but also in the hearts of the local residents.



J. Seward Johnson Collection

J. Seward Johnson is a world famous sculpture known for his life-size, realistic cast bronze figures. His work depicts ordinary people performing everyday tasks.

Kaleidoscope

In October 2006, butterfly sculptures - 35 of them with wingspans of 5 feet to 7 feet - began appearing around Lakeland. The public-art project was sponsored by Kaleidoscope, a partnership that united the community to raise funds for CommonGround, an inclusive playground for children of varying abilities and disabilities.
