What facilities are available for rent and what are the costs?

Do you have a booklet of all of your classes, fees, etc. when does it come available and where can I get one?
Our activity book is called the "Playmaker" and is published twice a year March-August and September-February. The Playmaker is distributed throughout the city and is also available at city locations. There is also a copy of the Playmaker to view on the web.

What Special Events does the City of Lakeland sponsor?
The city of Lakeland's Park & Recreation Department offers many Special Events. An entire listing of all Special Events can be found on the Special Event page.

What activities do your parks offer?
The City of Lakeland Parks & Recreation Department has many activities available at the various parks. They activities may be viewed in the playmaker or on the Park Activity page located under the Parks section of the webpage.

When are the city Christmas decorations displayed?
The Parks Department begins set up of Christmas decorations November 1st and are lit after Thanksgiving.

When is the Christmas Parade and how can I place an exhibit in the parade?
The Christmas Parade is on the first Thursday of December and is organized by the Jr. League. Applications are available in the Parks & Recreation Administration office, 834-6035 or through Jr. League Phone # is 666-8134

When is the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and how can I place an exhibit in the parade?
The Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is on Saturday January 24th at 1:00pm. To enter an exhibit please contact Christine Simmons 616-1450 or Natalie Gallon 834-2574.

How long is walking around Lake Hollingsworth?
2.77 miles

How long is walking around Lake Hunter?
1.2 miles

Where can I get a Lake to Lake Bike Map?
The map can be found under the Park Activity page in the Parks section of the website.

When can I visit a park?
All parks are open to the public. Gated Parks are open from Dawn until Dusk or specified at each park.

May I bring my own grill into a park?
Yes

Does the city have Tennis Courts?
The City of Lakeland Parks & recreation maintains several Tennis Courts. The main facility is located at Vetern's Park and is called Edgewood Tennis Complex. For other location of Tennis Courts please view the Park Activity page under the Parks section on this website.

What about alcohol in parks?
Alcohol is not permitted in any of the parks unless authorized by permit or special event.

Can I bring pets to a park?
Pets may be brought to the parks, but a leash is necessary.

How can I schedule to use an athletic field?
Please call the Parks Department at 834-2233

May I drive motorized vehicles, such as all-terrain vehicles, in the park?
ATV's may not be brought into any of the parks.

Do I have to have a membership card when I visit Simpson Park Community Center, Kelly Recreation Complex?
Membership cards are not required at this time. The Fees to use the workout facilities are as follows: $2 resident, $4 non-resident $20/$40 passes available

Do you have a transportation program for senior citizens that will take them to places they need to go?
No

Can I register for activities over the phone?
The City of Lakeland Parks & Recreation Department does not offer online registration at this time.

What Sports leagues does the city offer?
The City of Lakeland Parks & Recreation Department has many sports leagues to offer (Softball, Flag Football, Kickball, etc..) They can be viewed under the Recreation section of the website.

Do you have lifeguards at the swimming facilities?
All of are Aquatics Facilities have lifeguards on duty at all times.

I noticed a piece of park equipment was broken or in need of maintenance. Who should I call?

Where can I get information about the skate park?
Kelly Recreation Complex or Simpson Park Community Center

Where can I get information about the aquatics program?
Information about the aquatics program may be viewed by the Playmaker or by visiting the Aquatics page in the Recreation section of the website

Does the city have any places to play golf?
The city has a beautiful golf course open to the public called Cleveland Heights

Am I able to play music at any of the parks?
Music may be played at a reasonable level of loudness so as to not disturb others.

May I take photographs or film video at the city facilities?
The City of Lakeland has no problem with pictures or video being taken of it's facilities.

Can I feed the wildlife in the parks?
It is not recommended to feed the squirrels or birds but it is definitely prohibited to feed the alligators.

Does the city provide dog obedience classes?
Imperial Polk Obedience offers classes at Tigertown. To pre-register call, 644-1227
