Carpenter’s Way Improvements

The City contracted with DRMP, Inc. (Orlando, FL) to evaluate the need for improved east-west travel within the northern portion of the city. The general boundaries of the study area encompass the area bounded on the west by US 98, on the south by Griffin Road, on the east by Lakeland Hills Boulevard/North Socrum Loop Road and on the north by North Socrum Loop Road/Marcum Road.

DRMP, Inc. presented the study recommendations to the City Commission on March 17, 2008. The City intends to move forward with their recommendations in phases. The first action will be to acquire the private section of Carpenter’s Way and then make improvements before it is opened to the public. The City proposes to widen the existing private roadway, construct sidewalks, and make drainage improvements. Road construction plans are being prepared. The City will acquire the required right of way during Fiscal Year 2008-09. Construction is funded in Fiscal Year 2009-10.

This project is funded through Impact Fees.
