Edgewood Drive Extension Project

The Edgewood Drive Extension project will extend Edgewood Drive from S. Florida Avenue to Harden Boulevard. A traffic signal is proposed at S. Lincoln Avenue. The traffic signal at Harden Boulevard has been installed and is operational.
The road construction plans are 90% complete. The City is also nearing completion of acquiring the necessary right of way. Right of way acquisition is 95% complete.

In early 2010, the City will advertise a Request for Proposal for a Design/Build contract. The scope of this contract will be to relocate the large drainage ditch that parallels San Gully Road, build the new retention pond, and remediate the poor soils between Harden Boulevard and S. San Gully Road

The construction of the new Edgewood Drive from S. Florida Avenue to Harden Boulevard is targeted for calendar year 2012. This project is being funded through Gas Tax and Impact Fees. Polk County has contributed $4 million to this project. The City has also received federal funding in the amount of $4 million.
