Harden/San Gully Intersection
Edgewood Drive Extension Project
The City Commission awarded an $8.4 million Design-Build contract to Kimmins Contracting Corp. on June 21, 2010. The project limits for the Design-Build contract are Harden Boulevard and S. Lincoln Avenue.







The contract includes the following components:
• Slime Remediation, Ditch Relocation and Embankment to Bottom of Future Base Course from Harden Boulevard to East of S. San Gully Road
• Relocate Ditch from East of S. San Gully Road to S. Lincoln Avenue and Pond Construction
• Embankment to Bottom of Future Base Course from E. of S. San Gully Road to S. Lincoln Avenue
• Installation of a 20” Force Main
• Installation of Roadway Lighting Conduit and Pole Foundations
The Edgewood Drive Extension project will extend Edgewood Drive from S. Florida Avenue to Harden Boulevard. A traffic signal is proposed at S. Lincoln Avenue. The traffic signal at Harden Boulevard has been installed and is operational. The road construction plans are 90% complete. Right of way acquisition is 95% complete.

The construction of the new Edgewood Drive from S. Florida Avenue to Harden Boulevard is targeted for late 2011. This project is being funded through Gas Tax and Impact Fees. Polk County has contributed $4 million to this project. The City has also received federal funding in the amount of $4 million.
