This intersection improvement project will provide for a second eastbound left-turn lane and related improvements to the Wabash Avenue approach with improvements adjacent to the west bound departure lane to accommodate the future four-laning of U.S. 92 west of Wabash Avenue. Traffic signal modifications will be required as well to accommodate the new turn lane. The project length is approximately 1,500 feet.
The City of Lakeland is partnering with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on this project. The FDOT will provide funding for the design of the intersection, upgrades and safety improvements. The FDOT has also committed to providing funding for construction in their Five-Year Work Program in Fiscal Year 2015-16.
