Overview of Lake Bonnet Lake Bonnet is a shallow enriched system, with an average depth of 0.9 m (2.9 ft), with a surface area of 319.70 sq. km (79.04 acres). Lake Bonnet serves a drainage basin area of 3,322.47 sq. km (820.04 acres).
Facts about Lake Bonnet: Lake Bonnet has an extensive marsh bordering the east shoreline. Historical photographs show thick mats of water hyacinths covering the surface of the lake. A drawdown and sediment removal project was attempted in 1975, which proved unsuccessful due to problems with dewatering the lakebed. Brunnell Parkway forms a dike along the west shore. Recreational activities include fishing with appropriate permits.

Current Projects for Lake Bonnet Lake Bonnet Diagnostic Study Lake Bonnet recently underwent a diagnostic study to evaluate current lake conditions and to identify sources of lake pollution. The study focused on the accumulation of organic sediments in the lake, and the benefits of sediment removal. Additionally, a study is being proposed to address flooding and water quality for waters leaving the Lake Bonnet area that drain into the Itchepackessasa Creek.
