The Parker Street Beautification project, consisted of converting the existing 4-lane Parker Street between N. Massachusetts Avenue and N. Lake Parker Avenue, into two travel lanes, a middle turn lane or landscaped median and a bicycle lane on either side. The project also included transit stop improvements.
The project was funded with Federal Transportation Enhancement Program funds through the Florida Department of Transportation, the Polk County Planning Organization and M id-Town CRA funds.
Construction of the project commenced in July 2010 and was completed in January 2011.
APWA 2012 Project of the Year Award
The City of Lakeland, Public Works Department and the City’s CRA, together with the firm of CivilSurv Design Group, Inc., received the prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) 2012 Project of the Year award for the Parker Street Beautification project.
Florida Redevelopment Association 2011 Award for Creative Organizational Development & Funding
The City of Lakeland’s CRA was awarded the 2011 Florida Redevelopment Association’s award for Creative Organizational Development & Funding.
