Help Prevent Pedestrian Fatalities!

April 1st, 2005 began our pedestrian and bicycle safety campaign. Banners hung during this kick off month to emphasize that drivers must yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. We have bright signs on the median poles in crosswalks near neighborhoods and schools.

It's a fact. Approximately 900 people, including more than 200 children, are killed annually in bicycle related incidents nationwide, and about 60 percent of these deaths involve a head injury. The good news, research indicates that a helmet can reduce the risk of serious brain injury by 85 percent. Use your head. Use a helmet.
