The Public Works Department celebrated the American Public Works Association (APWA) National Public Works Week on Friday, May 4, 2007 in Munn Park. Our Divisions all took part with displays, games, demonstrations and give-a-ways. The Director's Office staff explained the various prizes available this year. The Facilities Maintenance Division had a unique Toilet Seat Toss! Construction & Maintenance demonstrated a variety of their vehicles including the Menzi Muck (photo above). Solid Waste was on hand with their displays, popcorn and a variety of give-a-ways. The Fleet Maintenance group attracted crowds with a flashing beacon and displayed photos and a slideshow of their operation. Traffic Operations had a variety of signs on hand, but the Traffic Light and Turtle Sign were the most popular items in the prize raffles! There were many children with their parents lined up to get free bicycle helmets. We even had Helmutt and the Crash Dummies participating at this year's event. The Engineering Division held the ever popular Jeopardy game. Lakes & Stormwater brought the rain barrels, displays and doggie bag give-a-ways, a very useful item, as we had many dogs attending this year too! All in all, this was a successful event! |
