The Public Works Department celebrated the American Public Works Association (APWA) National Public Works Week on Friday, May 2, 2008 in Munn Park. Our Divisions all took part with displays, games, demonstrations and give-a-ways. The Director's Office staff offered balloons to all and staff explained the various prizes available this year. The Facilities Maintenance Division supplied snow cones and beads for a Mardi Gras type feel! Construction & Maintenance demonstrated a variety of their vehicles including the Menzi Muck. Solid Waste was on hand with their container displays and a variety of give-a-ways. The Fleet Maintenance group attracted displayed photos and a slideshow of their operation. Traffic Operations had a variety of signs on hand including a crossing signal and were supplying kids of all ages with Tattoos. Their Turtle Sign was one of the most popular items in the prize raffles! The Parking Enforcement group displayed garages of the future (can you image an elevator for your car?) and all sorts of downtown parking details. The Engineering Division encouraged participation with their Jeopardy game display. Lakes & Stormwater brought the rain barrels, displays and some give-a-ways. 2008 hosted another successful event!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for next year - the event will again be held on Friday, May 1, 2009! The Director's Office table is a great place to start if you want to participate in our give-a-ways. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend and submit their entry! See you then. |
