Where Does all the Recycling Materials go?
Have you ever wondered what happens to all the aluminum, cardboard, glass, newspaper, plastic and steel cans that you put in your blue recycling bin? Where does it all go? What happens after it gets there? The answers may surprise you. Recycling is more than just collecting the materials. It is a cycle that can with your help repeat itself again, and again.

Recycled materials collected from your bin are taken to our Processing Center located at 320 N Eastside Drive in Lakeland. There the materials are sorted and placed into tractor trailers and into roll-off containers. These containers will be shipped to mills and plants to be made into all kinds of products such as, carpets, clothes (shoes and socks), construction materials (tiles, roofing shingles), and paper goods (greeting cards, business cards, paper towels and cereal boxes). Park benches and playground equipment are also made from items that you have recycled.

'Closing the Loop'
When you purchase items that have been made from recycled materials you are "Closing the Loop". In addition you are saving energy, our natural resources and reducing waste.

There is a growing market for recycled content products. Let's all do our part in completing the cycle. Let's recycle the materials and buy recycled products. Be sure to look for the recycle symbol which will appear on the products.
