SR 33 East-West Road Project
The East West Road is a new four-lane roadway that will connect State Road 33 in Lakeland to Pace Road at the Polk Parkway (S.R. 570). The new road will initially be built as a two-lane facility that can be expanded to four lanes as funding becomes available. The new East West Road will serve as the primary access to the new USF Polytechnic campus to be built at Interstate 4 and the Polk Parkway, as well as other associated research parks and businesses that will support and enhance the campus. The East West Road is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act at a cost of $27.6 million.

This project will be implemented through a Design/Build Contract. The selection process is underway and a contract will be awarded by January 2010. The project is anticipated to be completed by January 2012.
