Water Distribution is responsible for building and maintaining the series of pipelines that water travels to reach businesses and homes of Lakeland Residents. This Division maintains more than 3,000 fire hydrants, 67,000 Cold Water Meters and 2,800 Backflow Prevention Devices.

Cold water meters are rebuilt and tested in the Meter Shop. Technicians change out meters at the end of the effective life cycle.

When homeowners and other utilities excavate soil our locators identify our facilities to prevent damage to the water lines.

With more than 3000 hydrants in the system the hydrant maintenance crew is very busy.
