Mobile Computer Display The Hammerhead displays a GIS Water Line map ready for "symbology" to be applied. Valves, hydrants, pipe fittings, meters and backflow prevention devices are all represented as symbols on a GIS map. |

Transporting The Receiver A Trimble Model 4800 Receiver is transported in a bin horizontally.

Control Station or Starting Point A "control station" located in Lakeland. Control Stations are known elevations, this particular station is maintained by the US Coast Guard. There are 100 control stations and Public Works benchmarks in the Lakeland area. A trip to one of these control stations or benchmarks is first stop each day. |

Maintaining A Signal During Travel After a visit to one of the control stations the Trimble unit is transported in a vertical position to maintain a constant signal. Trees and buildings can cause interference with the satellite signal. |

Recording A Point Coordinates are logged by placing the receiver on the facility then the information is recorded on a map in the Hammerhead. |
