Teams of 2 or more drive around in cars through Lakeland following clues, complete tasks and challenges, in an effort to be the team with the most points. There will be coffee and donuts served in the club house to start the day during kick-off/registration. Upon completion we will have lunch and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, Door prize drawings and Chinese Auction. OPEN TO ALL. Drivers must be 18 or older. $30 per car (up to 4 people). Funds raised to benefit the Lunsford's - a Veteran family in need of major house repairs after a fire. 5th Annual Warrior Walk around Lake Hollingsworth is in remembrance to the Polk County veterans who have given their lives in service to their country. 

The Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of Polk County in conjunction with the Polk County Veteran's Council would like to invite you to a patriotic Themed "Warrior Walk" around beautiful Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland, Florida.

The purpose of this event is to honor our U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who have been killed in action while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

If you participated in the event last year, Thank You. This event would not of been successful without the community support and sponsorships we received.

As part of a personal commitment to lead a healthier lifestyle, Commissioner Keith Merritt will walk with Lakeland residents around the parks and lakes of our City. Twice a month Commissioner Merritt will meet up with walkers at a destination for a brisk walk. No timers, No medals, just an opportunity to get up, get out and start walking. All ages and fitness abilities welcome.

The Mid-Florida Society for Human Resource Management is hosting a special event and breakfast at Grassland Golf and Country Club on July 31. Our guest speaker will be Carol Quinn, CEO of Hire Authority. The session is titled "Top 3 Reasons Behavioral Based Interviews Do Not Work (and What To Do About It)." SHRM members and guests welcome. This event is open to the HR and business leaders.

The Utility Committee serves as an advisory board to the Mayor & City Commission and is responsible for the review of Lakeland Electric financial and operational reports, fuel cost recovery, rate structures, contracts, programs and departmental initiatives. Utility Committee Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.  Meetings begin at 1PM in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall located at 228 S. The HERO Revolution 501(c)(3) will be hosting our first annual 5K superHERO Run/Walk in effort to spread the word about bullying. There will be raffle give aways, cash prizes for best superhero costume, live anti-bullying performance by Marc Wilkes (Omega-Man), goody bags for each participant and a medal for each participant. The event welcomes adults, children, strollers and even your pet. Our mission is to share information about bullying to as many children and homes as possible. All money raised will provide our local schools and schools across the nation with the #1 anti-bullying/character development program, Omega-Man Schools and Friends.
