The Annual Fallen Heroes Memorial 5K run generates funds to maintain Lakeland's Fallen Heroes Memorial and to support the families of police officers in their moments of need, just as they support us in our greatest moments of need.
PACKET PICK-UP:
Packets and bibs can be picked up at the Lakeland Police Department on Thursday, May 19th or Friday, May 20th between the hours of 4:30PM and 7:00PM. Pickup area will be at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the entrance of the Lakeland Police Department. We have arranged for this process to be a drive-thru, so you will not have to exit your vehicle. Once you arrive, you will simply provide your name, and we will have volunteers process your registration and provide you with your bag, t-shirt, and race bib. If needed, we will still have volunteers available to register those who need to be registered, but we ask that everyone conduct this online to limit exposure to others.
RACE DAY:
The 2022 Fallen Heroes Memorial 5K, on the familiar Three-Parks Trail starting just north of the Lakeland YMCA and ending at Peterson Park will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022. On site registration will open at 6:00 a.m. and the race will start promptly at 7:00 a.m. The starting line will remain open for an extra 10 minutes to accommodate participants who wish to start separate from the starting line up. The race is chip-timed to ensure that individual times begin once runners cross the start line.
Once the participants cross the finish line, they will be greeted by several foundation volunteers who will hand out participant medals. Water and healthy snacks will be available near the finish line at the entrance to runner's village. Once the event is complete, FITniche will tabulate the final race results, and the top three finishers in each age category will be awarded placement medals at a ceremony.
This event is rain or shine. There will be no cancellation or refunds due to the weather, nor is there a make-up date scheduled.
PARKING:
The parking areas for the event will be in the grassy areas on the south side of the YMCA. Volunteers will be in the parking area to assist. Please DO NOT park in the YMCA lot or at the veterinary clinic next door! You may be towed if you park in these areas.
