The City Commission met on Friday, August 3rd to review and discuss agenda items for the upcoming City Commission Meeting on Monday, August 6th. Join us in the City Hall Commission Chambers on Monday at 9 AM for the City Commission Meeting, or watch live online, on Spectrum channel 643 or FiOS channel 43.
Summer Palooza took place in Simpson Park on Saturday, August 4th. The event featured a kids zone, free groceries for 1000 families, free haircuts, hot meals, community resources. There was also a celebrity panel discussion with Dwayne Bacon of the Charlotte Hornets, singer/actress Fantasia Barrino and President of Rock Soul, Inc., Kendall Taylor.
Women have been making a difference in the fire service for decades. This production by the Lakeland Fire Department brings together women working as Firefighters, Paramedics, and Emergency Medical Technicians at the Lakeland Fire Department and other departments across the nation.
They share their stories about what inspired them to become emergency responders and how a job became a rewarding, lifelong career. They found their calling and hope to inspire other women to do the same.
The Refuse to Lose Project Team visited Sound House Studios for final production and mixing of the Refuse to Lose Anthem. The Anthem was written by the Refuse to Lose 2017 Summit “Rap Rehab” competition winners. Enjoy!
