PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: ADA Transition Plan Update

LAKELAND, FL (February 15, 2019) | The City of Lakeland will hold two Public Input Open House meetings to review the City’s progress on the ADA Self-evaluation process to update the ADA Transition Plan.  The meetings will be held on Tuesday February 19, 2019.  The first meeting will be from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, the second meeting will be from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.  Disability Access Consultants (DAC) staff will conduct presentations about the project.  City staff will be available to discuss the project, receive input, and answer questions.  Both meetings will be held at the Lakeland Public Library, 100 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801.

The City retained the services of Disability Access Consultants, LLC to conduct a City-wide ADA/Accessibility evaluation of public-rights-of-way, facilities, programs and services.  The City is seeking feedback about accessibility from members of the community, elected and appointed officials, business owners/operators and other interested parties.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or family status. Anyone requiring special accommodations pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 or persons that require translation services (free of charge) for the meeting should contact the City ADA Specialist, Jenny Sykes at (863) 834-8444, by Florida Relay 711, or by email to jenny.sykes@lakelandgov.net.  Because providing a reasonable accommodation may require outside assistance, the City asks that any request be made with as much notice as possible, preferably five (5) business days prior to the event, but no later than two (2) business days prior to the event.

If you’re unable to attend and would like to provide comments, please contact the City ADA Specialist, or submit comments on the City website.  An Accessibility Survey is also available on the website until March 8, 2019 lakelandgov.net/accessibilitysurvey. Information about the ADA Transition Plan process may be obtained from the City’s ADA Specialist and from the City website: lakelandgov.net/accessibility.
