Lakeland Electric is thrilled to announce the beginning of its fourth Power Academy program through Kathleen High School beginning this fall! Currently, Lakeland Electric has a Power Academy at Tenoroc High School, Traviss Technical College, and a Pre-Power Academy at Kathleen Middle School.
The new Power Academy at Kathleen High School has several goals: expose students to career paths within the Utilities Energy Industry, equip students with relevant foundational skills that will provide avenues towards attaining valuable industry certifications, and, most importantly, prepare them for successful entry into the workforce. Power Academy students will gain a solid understanding of the importance of electric utilities with access to entry-level positions within the industry through job shadowing at The City of Lakeland, Lakeland Electric, and other local energy companies.
Lakeland Electric is excited to announce Mr. Terry Thornton, Jr. has been selected as the teacher for the new Power Academy. Kathleen High School currently has 156 students enrolled to start the Power Academy this fall.
