Welcome to the home of Esports for the City of Lakeland! This program aims to provide opportunities to the community for video game enthusiasts while creating STEM training accessible to all. We are dedicated to providing a safe space for all ages to utilize technology, interact with others, and HAVE FUN! We are excited to see how this program can grow.     S.T.E.M. ESPORTS
    A class designed to help tutor young minds to learn critical thinking skills while learning the Game of Chess and S.T.E.M. eSports Games.
    Monday-Friday
    4 - 5 PM
    FREE
    Offered during the regular school year and currently offered to participants of our afterschool programs. Find out more about those programs on our After School Programming page.

    ESPORTS GAMES
    A class designed to help teach youth from Kindergarten to 8tH grade, some of the most popular eSports games.
    Monday-Friday
    5 - 6 PM
    FREE
    Offered during the regular school year.

Camp S.T.E.M.

  • Camp S.T.E.M. (Grades 3 - 8)

    Join the City of Lakeland for its first S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) day camp. It will offer an immersive educational experience designed to engage campers. 

    This program will offer a unique camp experience that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

    Open to Grades 3 through 8
    Must have completed 2nd grade (this school year) and not yet entered 8th grade.

    Schedule

    Monday - Friday (No camp on Juneteenth, June 19)
    Drop off no earlier than 7:30 AM
    Pick-up no later than 5:30 PM

    Week 1 - Science
    June 3 - 7

    Week 2 - Technology
    June 10 - 14

    Week 3 - Engineering
    June 17 - 21 (No Camp June 19)

    Week 4 - Mathematics
    June 25 - 29

  • Registration (opens May 6th)

    For registration:

    • Registration opens May 6 at 9 AM for all four sessions.
    • Space is limited and filled first come, first served.
    • Registration for one week does not guarantee placement in any other weeks.
    • Have your camper's most recent report card available for upload during the registration process. (This camp is open to grades 3 - 8)
    • Payment is due in full at the time of registration.

    Teamwork and Collaboration
    Many activities require teamwork, promoting collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.

    Inspiration and Exploration
    Exposure to diverse S.T.E.M. topics and interactions with professionals inspire campers to explore new interests and consider future career paths.

    Instructors and Staff
    The camp is led by experienced instructors who will provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship, ensuring that campers receive the support they need to thrive.

Camp Esports 

  • Camp Esports (Grades 8 - 12)

    Join the City of Lakeland for its first Esports day camp. This program will offer a blend of gameplay, skill development, strategy training, and physical wellness activities tailored specifically for young gamers. It will foster teamwork, sportsmanship, critical thinking, and communication skills within competitive gaming. Throughout the sessions, campers participate in friendly tournaments and competitions in the game of the week (session weeks broken down in the schedule section below), allowing them to apply their skills in a competitive setting while fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants.

    Schedule

    Monday - Friday (No camp on Independence Day - July 4)
    Drop off no earlier than 7:30 AM
    Pick-up no later than 5:30 PM

    Week 1 - Fortnite
    July 1 – 5 (No Camp July 4)

    Week 2 - Rocket League
    July 8 – 12

    Week 3 - Overwatch
    July 15 - 19

    Week 4 - Valorant
    June 22 – 26

    Campers have the opportunity to improve their gaming skills, strategic thinking, and teamwork abilities under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors.

    The camp emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship, collaboration, and communication, helping campers develop positive attitudes and effective teamwork skills in and out of the game.

    Community Building
    Campers connect with like-minded peers who share their passion for gaming, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging within the esports community.

    Career Exploration
    Exposure to professionals within the esports industry provides campers with insights into potential career paths in gaming, esports management, content creation, and more.

    Instructors and Staff
    The camp is led by a team of experienced esports coaches, gaming enthusiasts, and certified instructors who are passionate about both gaming and education. They provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship to help campers maximize their potential and enjoy a rewarding camp experience.
