Library Holiday Hours

All three Lakeland Library locations will be closed Monday, September 7th for the Labor Day holiday.

We will reopen Tuesday, September 8th at 9 AM.

Youth Intermediate Sewing Saturday at Main Library

We've got the basics, where can we go? Join us on Saturday for projects to sew!

Older kids and teens ages 9-17 are invited to join us for a free 90-minute class for students with sewing machine experience. Each month, we will make a project that explores a new sewing skill.

September's Project: Quilt-as-you-go Fabric Pumpkin 

Sewing Saturday is limited to ten (10) participants. 

Registration is required and will open one week before the class begins. Each participant must be registered separately. You can register online when registration opens or by calling or visiting a Lakeland Library for staff to assist with registration. If you are more than 10 minutes late to the class without notifying instructors that you will be delayed, your seat may be given to the next participant on the waitlist.

**Please note, this is not an introduction to sewing or sewing machines. Students need to have some basic experience using sewing machines independently to participate.**

Open Mic Night

Calling all performers! Come share your talents and let your passion shine on Thursday, September 10th at 5:30 PM in the Lakeland Public Library Meeting Room. Whether you play an instrument, recite poetry, do stand-up comedy, or just want come listen and support your community, open mic night is for you.

No registration required. This event is for ages 18+. Guidelines for performers are noted on the event calendar.

Preschool Storytimes at Lakeland Libraries

All three Lakeland Library locations have preschool storytimes for children ages 2-5 and their grownups! With stories, songs, rhymes, and activities, storytimes promote the development of preliteracy, verbal and listening skills, and socio-emotional skills.

Baby Storytime at Lakeland Public Library

Join us at 11 AM on select Thursdays at the Lakeland Public Library for an interactive lapsit Baby Storytime with songs, rhymes, and fingerplays! 

Baby Storytime is designed for ages birth to 2 years old.
