    Learn to Grow Spring Vegetables Workshop

    Springtime is a wonderful time to start a warm season vegetable garden. Join the Lakeland Public Library and UF/IFAS Extension Polk County on Tuesday, March 31st at 10 AM in the Meeting Room to talk about vegetable gardening basics, easy ways to start a vegetable garden, and what you can plant now. This event is for ages 18+.

    What's That Bird? Birdwatching for Beginners

    Have you ever wondered, “What’s that bird?” It’s time to find out! Come to the Lakeland Public Library Meeting Room on Saturday, March 28th from 1 PM to 2 PM to learn the basics of bird identification and how to get started bird watching. Then, impress your friends and family with your new ornithological knowledge.

    Health Basics Workshop with Moffit

    Join us in the Meeting Room at the Lakeland Public Library on Thursday, April 2nd at 1 PM for a health basics workshop with Moffit Cancer Center. In this comprehensive introduction to understanding cancer as a disease, participants will gain a deeper understanding of what cancer is, its impact on the body, and methods for cancer prevention. The workshop will also include:

    • Navigating healthcare options, both with and without insurance
    • Practicing prevention through screenings and care appointments
    • Resources available within the community

    Preschool Storytimes at Lakeland Libraries

    All three Lakeland Library locations have preschool storytimes for children ages 2-5 and their grownups! With stories, songs, rhymes, and activities, storytimes promote the development of preliteracy, verbal and listening skills, and socio-emotional skills.
