Children's Theater at the Lakeland Public Library is an interactive storytime that lets kids become the stars! Join us on Saturday, August 8th at 2 PM to be part of the fun. Suggest themes, perform on stage, or just sit back and watch the show.
Designed for children ages 4 and up. No registration required.

Access thousands of ebooks, audiobooks and magazines through the Libby app. Join us on Sunday, August 16th at 2 PM at the Lakeland Public Library History Room to explore the Libby app and its features that deliver tons of library content to your favorite smartphone or tablet. Ipads will be provided for you to practice with. You are welcome to bring your own device.

In today’s fast world of technology, it is more important than ever for parents and caregivers to understand the risks children may encounter online. Join the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, August 7th at 3 PM in the Lakeland Public Library Meeting Room for an informative session to learn about internet safety, including situations children may be exposed to, and tips on how to keep them safe.
No registration required. This event is for ages 18+.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and we need your help celebrating! The Lakeland Public Libraries invite you to design our next library card. The selected artworks will be featured on official library cards for use throughout Polk County.
Design submissions will be accepted from August 1st through 31st, with one winner being chosen from each age group: children (ages 3-12), teens (ages 13-17), and adult (ages 18+). The winning designs will be featured on a library card, and the winners will be recognized on the Lakeland Public Library’s social media accounts and digital newsletters.
All three Lakeland Library locations have preschool storytimes for children ages 2-5 and their grownups! With stories, songs, rhymes, and activities, storytimes promote the development of preliteracy, verbal and listening skills, and socio-emotional skills.
