How much do library cards costs? Answer: Library cards are FREE for Polk County residents.
How do I get a library card? Answer: Bring proof of your address and a photo ID to the library's circulation desk. Proof of address can be in the form of a driver's license, electric bill, voter's registration, renter's lease agreement, etc.
How long can library materials be checked out? Answer: Library materials check out for a two week time period. You may renew items twice if no one else has placed the item on reserve.
How do I renew my books? Answer: Libary materials can be renewed in person, over the phone or online. Either bring the items in, call the circulation desk at 863-834-4263 or access your account online. Over due items cannot be renewed online.
How do I access my account online? Answer: You will need your library card number located on the back of your card and your borrower ID number to access your account online.
What is my borrower ID? Answer: Your borrower ID number is unique to your library record and should be made available to you at the circulation desk when you registered for your card. These numbers are only given out in person for your personal security.If you do not know your ID number, please visit your closest public library's circulation desk and staff will make the number available to you.
Why do I have fines on my account? Answer: Overdue items or lost items can generate fines and fees on your account. Circulation staff can help you determine the exact nature of the fees listed.
Where do I return materials? Answer: Library materials can be returned at any public library in Polk County and the items will be routed to the owning library. For your convenience all public libraries in Lakeland make an outdoor book return available to customers during and after normal hours of operation.
How much does it cost to print a document? Answer: Printing from computer stations costs $.10 per page. Photocopiers are available at the Main Library and the Larry R. Jackson Branch Library. Photocopies are $.10 per page for black and white and $.50 per page for color copies (Main only).
Can I use the meeting room? Answer: The meeting room is available to non-profit community groups for occasional use. We do not allow more than three reservations on the calendar at any one time.
