LEGO Club at Jackson Branch

Calling all young builders, makers, architects, and engineers! The Larry R. Jackson Branch Library invites you to our LEGO club on Tuesday, March 17th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Beginners and experts ages 5-17 and their grown-ups are welcome to come work on their own LEGO creations or take our themed challenge. No registration required.

Playing with LEGO bricks promotes hand/eye coordination, enhances fine motor skills, develops problem solving skills, increases attention/concentration span, and unleashes creativity.

The library will provide the LEGO bricks, while the kids and teens provide the imagination! LEGO bricks will be sanitized after each use. All materials must stay in the library, so bring a camera to capture your creation. 

The Science Squad at Jackson Branch

Join the squad! Come create, learn, and explore the world around us through hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics activities at the Larry R. Jackson Branch Library on Tuesday, March 10th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. 

The Science Squad is recommended for children ages 7-12 and their grown-ups, no registration required. Things could get messy, so please wear appropriate clothing and make sure to arrive by 5:30 pm to not miss any of the fun!

Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics activities increase innovative thinking, encourage curiosity, inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and prepare young learners for high-demand careers.

Crafternoon at the Larry R. Jackson Branch Library

Early dismissal from school and don't know what to do? Come create with us! We'll supply the materials; you just bring your imagination on Friday, March 13th from 2:30-3:30 pm!

Crafternoon is a monthly, drop-in craft program for kids ages 5-12 and their grownups at the Larry R. Jackson Branch Library, falling on Polk County Public Schools' Early Dismissal Days. No registration required, but things could get messy, so please wear appropriate clothing! Children under the age of 10 must remain with their grown-up in the library throughout the program.

Crafting boosts fine motor skills, improves coordination, allows for creativity and self-expression, and teaches flexibility.

Preschool Storytimes at Lakeland Libraries

All three Lakeland Library locations have preschool storytimes for children ages 2-5 and their grownups! With stories, songs, rhymes, and activities, storytimes promote the development of preliteracy, verbal and listening skills, and socio-emotional skills.
