SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Committee of "21" was appointed by Mayor George R. Burt and the City Commissioners in 1979 "to evaluate the level of efficiency of departmental operations in the City of Lakeland, and to make recommendations concerning said operations to the Commission; this Committee shall act only in an advisory capacity."  It met from March 5, 1979 to October 5, 1979.  They conducted a survey which was compiled by Florida Southern College and published as "A Survey of Citizen Perception of the Quality of Government Services in the City of Lakeland." 

Materials in this collection were donated by Douglas Bark, Chairman of the Committee of "21" and are organized alphabetically by subject.
