NORMAN A. RIGGINS FAMILY PAPERS RG1000
Norman A. Riggins was involved in a number of business and commercial ventures in early Lakeland, including a store, a lumber mill, an ice plant, a novelty company, and a commercial farm. Unfortunately, almost no written record of those activities exists. The records were most probably discarded as they were no longer needed. The fragmentary record of Riggins' business and commercial life is contained in this series and includes business licenses, correspondence, contracts, deeds, leases, mortgages, promissory notes, receipts, and the articles of incorporation for the Polk County Agricultural Association. Riggins was one of the original incorporators of the Association, along with such other prominent early citizens of Lakeland as Charles M. Marsh, Herbert J. Drane, and Robert Bryant. The records in this series are arranged alphabetically by name, subject, or type of record, and chronologically within folders.
