Back
Norman Riggins, one of Lakeland's pioneer settlers, built this beautiful Queen Ann style home for his family on Lake Morton in 1904. The name Mosswood comes from the many moss-draped trees that graced the property. Norman Riggins and his wife Sally are seated on the first floor porch railing. The house was moved to its present location at the corner of Mosswood Road and Riggins Street in 1952. This photo was probably taken prior to 1910. Note the calf behind the tree in the left foreground.
