The "Magic Fountain,' dedicated in 1961, dominates the park landscape and overwhelms the adjacent Confederate monument. The simple plan of walkways has been replaced by a hodgepodge of meandering walks seemingly leading nowhere. The railroad station had also been removed from the downtown area and replaced by a bus terminal, visible at the top of the photo.
