LAKELAND CITY HALL, @1916

Back
Located at the corner of East Main and South Florida, this building was constructed in 1913 and served Lakeland as its City Hall through 1926. It also housed the fire department and the city jail for part of that period. The building passed into private hands in the 1930's and, at some point, lost its distinctive tower. The building was renovated and the tower restored in 1987. The fire truck parked next to City Hall is reputed to be the city's first fire truck, a 1913 LaFrance.
