INTRODUCTION
|
Lakeland has a more than 50 year tradition of community theater. Lakeland Little Theater entertained city theater goers for more than 30 years from 1951 to 1982. The Taproot Theater group brought live theater to the Polk County schools between 1976 and 1984. The Lakeland Players trod the boards at the Lake Mirror Civic Center between 1983 and 1986.
The Pied Piper Players continue that long tradition that began with the Lakeland Little Theater in 1951. The Pied Piper Players was founded as a children's theater in 1985 by local director Rick Olivo and a host of dedicated volunteers. Gradually, the group expanded its repertoire and increased the number of productions in each season. It currently stages five plays a year at the Lake Mirror Civic Center theater to appreciative audiences and generally favorably reviews.
The small exhibit from our Poster and Broadside collection displays some of the colorful posters advertising Pied Piper productions over the years. Click on the links below and enjoy. |
