ALBERT PALEY'S "TRIBUTE TO THE VOLUNTEER SPIRIT"
Haley(L)
Back
This colorful work of art is by world renowned sculptor Albert Paley. The sculpture is a gift to the city made possible through the generosity of many individual, organizational, and corporate donors. Dedicated on April 16, 2004, Paley's sculpture completes Charles Leavitt's original design for the park and Promenade. Leavitt's 1926 design envisioned an obelisk or some other significant monument on ths site, but the funds were lacking to bring that vision to reality in the late 1920's.
