MANN RIGGINS HOME, @1890

Back
This home stood at the southwest corner of Lemon and South Tennessee. It was owned by Mann P. Riggins (third from the left) who came to the fledgling community of Lakeland with his brother-in-law Calvin Waggoner and son Norman Riggins in 1884. The three men opened a dry goods store at Tennessee and Main and built houses for their families along Tennessee Avenue. Mary Whitfield, the family servant who accompanied the Riggins family from Missouri to Lakeland, is standing at the far right. This photo dates from about 1890.
