HARRY S. MAYHALL COLLECTION (RG4200) 1910-1997
Harry Mayhall

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
Harry Sanford Mayhall (1882-1965) came to Florida in 1927 and accepted the position of Music and Drama Director of Lakeland High School in 1928. He staged many plays, and his Sunday concerts at the City Auditorium became a city tradition. In 1943 the City Commission honored him by voting to rename the auditorium which hosted his sunday concerts the Mayhall Auditorium. Harry Mayhall taught at Lakeland High School until 1952.

Mayhall was also an accomplished composer, who wrote dozens of pieces which were frequently performed during his Sunday concert programs. Some of those pieces are included in this collecton.

Materials in this collection occupy 2 linear feet and are organized into two series as follows: Series I, Subject Files, 1910-1987 and Series II, Musical Scores, 1910-1947.
