CIVIL DEFENSE, LAKELAND WOMEN'S DIVISION (RG2750) 1941-1946

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection of newspaper clippings, certificates, printed matter, reports, photographs, and correspondence cover the period of Lakeland history just after Pearl Harbor and through V-E Day to V-J Day, pertaining to the war effort on the home front -- the OCD (Organized Civilian Defense), its block system, war bond sales, etc. There is a great deal of coverage of the salvage collection, home canning classes, immunizations, and individuals working on various committees. The collection was donated by Mrs. May C. Stuart, who was Chairman of the Home & Community Services Division, OCD.

There are certificates belonging to Mr. Robert Stuart and a photograph of the Auxiliary Police Force 1943-1946, of which he was a member.

The collection includes photocopies of a small amount of information about the RAF pilots (42-A, 42-B) trained at Lodwick School of Aeronautics, and some photographs of a few of the RAF pilots, their families at home, and their activities during their stay in Lakeland. The originals are found in P710 - Lodwick Photo Collection. There are photocopies of three Drane Field newsletters. The originals are in RG2800.
