LEGO Club at Jackson Branch

Calling all young builders, makers, architects, and engineers! The Larry R. Jackson Branch Library invites you to our LEGO club on Tuesday, March 17th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Beginners and experts ages 5-17 and their grown-ups are welcome to come work on their own LEGO creations or take our themed challenge. No registration required.

Playing with LEGO bricks promotes hand/eye coordination, enhances fine motor skills, develops problem solving skills, increases attention/concentration span, and unleashes creativity.

The library will provide the LEGO bricks, while the kids and teens provide the imagination! LEGO bricks will be sanitized after each use. All materials must stay in the library, so bring a camera to capture your creation. 

Lakeland History & Culture Center Lecture Series

Join us in the Meeting Room at the Lakeland Public Library on Thursday, March 19th at 5:30 PM as Brenda Burnette presents about the history of Florida citrus crate labels in "Crate Labels: Preserving and Promoting the Florida Citrus Industry."

Learn more about the history of citrus crate labels and their importance to the citrus industry with the co-author of the book Florida Citrus Crate labels: An Illustrated History. Florida Citrus Crate labels served as branding and advertisements for the citrus industry. These highly collectable and brightly colored labels also served as early billboards that attracted tourism into the state and tell more about citrus and local history.

No registration required.

Stories & Stones Walking Tour

Join us on Saturday, March 21st at 9 AM for a walking tour of one of Lakeland’s oldest cemeteries, Roselawn Cemetery. Explore local history through the stories of past residents and learn about the meanings behind funerary symbols.

Stories and Stones Historic Cemetery tours are offered monthly, alternating between Lakeview, Tiger Flowers, and Roselawn Cemeteries. Tours run October through March and are for ages 13+. Registration is required.

Preschool Storytimes at Lakeland Libraries

All three Lakeland Library locations have preschool storytimes for children ages 2-5 and their grownups! With stories, songs, rhymes, and activities, storytimes promote the development of preliteracy, verbal and listening skills, and socio-emotional skills.
