The Curtis Peterson Papers were donated to the Special Collections unit of the Lakeland Public Library in 1998 by Curtis Peterson's nephew, Peter Peterson. The records were in good condition and no particular order when received.
Curtis Peterson donated the bulk of his personal papers to the University of Florida in Gainesville upon his retirement from the Florida State Senate in 1990. The materials in this collection document to a very small degree Curtis Peterson's career in the Florida State Senate. Included are copies of brochures and programs for events which Peterson attended, a bumper sticker promoting Peterson in his first attempt at electoral office in 1970, a campaign button from his campaigns for the Florida State Senate, correspondence with constituents and colleagues, newspaper clippings, a typed copy of the proceedings of the Senate Democratic caucus which elected Peterson president of the Senate, a copy of the journal of the Senate session which confirmed Peterson's election as president of the Senate, speeches, and biographical sketches.
