The primary mission of the LMCA Grant is the enhancement, promotion, and support of Lakeland’s arts community and its associated creative economy. Artistic enterprises headquartered within the Lakeland city limits are eligible to apply for funding through this process. Depending on the number of award recipients and total funds available, individual grant awards will consist of up to 5% of each organization’s prior year operating expenses.
Grant submissions may include operating expenses and specific program areas or initiatives, which must be disclosed in the application.
The scoring matrix (LMCA 2020 Grant Scoring Matrix) used by our LMCA judges (located in the next accordion menu) will help ensure that awards are distributed fairly and consistently. Applications are to be scored on a 1-100 scale as to overall community value. Reviewer scores will be averaged to determine the amount of eligible funding for each organization. An application must meet the minimum score of 60 to be considered for any award amount. For applications that score in the 60 - 64 range or lower, LMCA application judges must state their rationale for assigning the score and provide recommendations for future improvement in the grant-writing process for the respective organization.
