Mobile users can stay connected with the City of Lakeland by using our new Link2Lakeland app.  Users can access the most recent news posts, view upcoming City events with the community calendar, report neighborhood issues and much more. The City’s official FaceBook page, Twitter feed and YouTube channel can also be accessed very easily with the touch of the screen.  Citizen engagement makes Lakeland a better place and the community is encouraged to join the conversation through social media to learn what the City does each day and how they can play a part.

    On Friday, September 19th there will be a Free concert at the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror from 6 p.m.-9:00 p.m. featuring live music from the energetic Jill’s Cashbox. Jill’s Cashbox emerged on the scene in 2011 when three musicians/friends (Hunter Smith, Shannon Fetherman and Jeff Sweat) came together and started writing original music telling the story of their lives and of those around them. The band was later finalized with the addition of Rob Gundling, Joey Antrim and Greg Martin completing the band known today as Jills Cashbox.
  • PORTION OF NORTH GARY ROAD TO HAVE LANE CLOSURE DUE TO WASTEWATER MAIN REPAIR Posted last week
    North Gary Road between East Rose Street and East Magnolia Street will be closed to northbound traffic starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014. It is anticipated that the road will re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014. This will be a continuous 24-hour a day lane closure. Traffic will be detoured along East Rose Street to North Lake Parker Avenue to East Magnolia Street.

    The City of Lakeland just received the Arbitration Award from Barry J. Baroni regarding the termination of former Lakeland Police Department Sergeant Russell (Rusty) Longaberger. The hearing was conducted on April 16, 2014 under the auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The arbitrator denied the grievance outlined by Longaberger. The report concluded that “It is the Arbitrator’s considered opinion that termination was the appropriate form of discipline and that there was just cause for the termination of Longaberger.”
