Why does a fire engine respond when I call for an ambulance?
The fire department works in conjunction with emergency medical services. A fire engine is automatically sent when an ambulance is called. Fire department personnel are trained to the minimum of Emergency Medical Technician level and many are trained to the Paramedic level. Our apparatus are fully equipped to stabilize most medical emergencies until the ambulance arrives.

How can I obtain a copy of a fire department response report?
Reports may be obtained at our Administration Building located at 701 E. Main Street. It is suggested to call (863)834-8200 and request the report. The person assisting with the request can advise when the report will be ready, as it may take several days. You may download the Public Information Request form from the Downloadable Forms page of this website. Fill out the form and take it with you to the Administration Building or fax it to (863)834-8295.

Reports from responses that were medical in nature are confidential as per Florida Statute 401.30, Chapter 3, and may not be disclosed without the consent of the person to whom they pertain, unless one of the outlined provisions for limited disclosure is met.

How do I request a fire station tour, fire engine visits, or educational program?
To schedule programs or presentations, please call the Public Education Office at (863)834-8201, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Programs are scheduled at least 30 days in advance.

Is there an arson hotline?
The State of Florida Arson Hotline toll free number is (877)662-7766. You may also contact a Lakeland Fire Department investigator (863)834-8201 if you would like to report information that may be useful in solving possible arson cases.

How do I report a complaint or concern about a fire hazard?
To report a complaint or concern about a fire hazard, please contact the Fire Marshal at (863)834-8201.

Media requests and information regarding major incidents may be obtained from the Public Information Officer at (863)834-8201.

How can I file a compliment or complaint concerning fire department services?
If you have a compliment or a complaint with our department's services or personnel, please contact the Chief at (863)834-8200.

Is there a juvenile firesetter program in Lakeland?
The Lakeland Fire Department offers an educational intervention program to families with children involved in firesetting behaviors. Please contact the Public Education Office at (863)834-8201.

Can I have my blood pressure checked at the fire station?
The Lakeland Fire Department offers free blood pressure checks at each station.
