Register as a Contractor to Perform Work in Lakeland
The Lakeland Fire Department requires contractors working on automatic fire suppression systems, fire detection systems, or fire alarm systems and pyrotechnic/fireworks operators to be registered with the department prior to performing work in the City.

Apply for a Permit to Perform Work in Lakeland
The Lakeland Fire Department requires contractors to have permits prior to any installation of or modification to automatic fire suppression, detection, or alarm systems. Permits are also required for installation, removal, or abandonment of fuel tanks and tent erection. There are separate permits for indoor/outdoor displays, sparkler sales, open burning, and special events.

Apply for a Permit for Indoor/Outdoor Displays
The Lakeland Fire Department requires contractors operating pyrotechnic or fireworks displays in Lakeland to obtain a permit prior to setting up and at least 24 hours prior to event. Operators must pass a written competency test to be listed with the Lakeland Fire Department and to operate within the City.
