LAKELAND, FL (January 30, 2019) | The City of Lakeland is getting closer to hiring a new Assistant City Manager. The process is now down to the final four candidates after long hours of reviewing resumes, performing background checks and conducting telephone interviews.
Congratulations to Driver/Engineer Harvey Ries! He is the Lakeland Fire Department's Firefighter of the Year (2019), as recognized by the Lakeland Knights of Columbus.This is the first of several community awards presented in the first quarter of the year to First Responders in Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement for performing heroic acts of service, on and off-duty. Harvey was nominated and subsequently won the award for his heroic efforts during a car accident with multiple patients, while off-duty.

LAKELAND, FL (January 24, 2019) | Harrison School for the Arts is hosting Lakeland Sister Cities International’s “Young Artists and Authors Showcase” on February 11, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in the main rotunda in front of the art gallery. An awards presentation will also take place and all entries will be displayed in the art gallery.
The City of Lakeland invites the public to attend a Public Meeting for the approved water quality improvement project to construct a stormwater treatment system located along the north side of Sikes Blvd between Hartsell Avenue and Lime St. The improvements include the construction of two stormwater treatment ponds, a nutrient separating baffle box, and additional stormwater infrastructure. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the R.W. Blake Academy cafeteria located at 510 Hartsell Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33815.
LAKELAND, FL (January 16, 2019) | The Lake Hollingsworth Parking Lot (adjacent to the Yacht Club) will be closed January 22nd and 23rd while City crews resurface the lot and apply pavement markings. Residents are asked to utilize alternate parking when visiting Lake Hollingsworth during the resurface project. Visitors can use the parking available at Common Ground Playground (1000 East Edgewood Drive) and adjacent lots at Cleveland Heights Golf Course.
