Public Notice: Portion Of Chestnut Road To Close For Sidewalk Project

LAKELAND, FL (November 30, 2023) | Polk County Roads & Drainage Division will start the initial phase of a sidewalk installation project near Lakeland on December 18, 2023, along North Chestnut Road from Butler Drive to south of Yeats Street.  Construction will also include drainage improvements that will close a portion of North Chestnut Road at Butler Drive because of the narrow right-of-way and the need for deep drainage structures as part of the project.

Polk County Roads & Drainage estimates that the North Chestnut Road construction zone will be closed for approximately 88 days and the entire project will take 100 days to complete.  Once all phases are completed, the new Chestnut Road sidewalk will provide a safe pedestrian route between Memorial Boulevard and New Tampa Highway.  The County project will greatly enhance pedestrian access and safety to Kathleen High School and surrounding neighborhoods.  For more information, please contact Project Manager, Angela Spieler at angelaspieler@polk-county.net.
