Lakeland Launches School-Zone Speed Camera Program

UPDATE - January 30, 2026 The City of Lakeland is continuing to activate the new school-zone speed cameras near select schools in Lakeland. A few cameras are still awaiting final implementation. Until all cameras are fully activated, the program will remain in an educational warning phase. All drivers traveling more than 10 miles per hour over the posted school-zone speed limit while the school-zone flashing lights are active will be found in violation and receive a warning notice only. 

A public update will be sent out once a citation live date is determined. Until then, we ask drivers to slow down and pay attention, especially in areas near our schools.
