Neighborhood Services Bureau

NSB is responsible for providing basic patrol operations, neighborhood policing, special operations, and crime prevention services to the community. The Bureau is divided into several major sections, to include Uniform Patrol squads, Special Operations, Neighborhood Liaison Officers, and Community Services. A total of 145 sworn personnel and 17 fulltime civilian members comprise the entire bureau. These members include supervisors, officers, public safety aides, crime prevention practitioners, and office support staff.

Patrol Day Shift squads are responsible for day time patrol services. The two day shift commanders are Lt. Joe Henson and Lt. Al Wilson.

Patrol Night Shift squads are responsible for night time patrol services. The two night shift commanders are Lt. Sammy Taylor and Lt. Anne-Marie Wendel.

The Special Operations Section (SOS) coordinates traffic enforcement and crash investigations, DUI enforcement, K-9 operations, SWAT and Hostage Negotiations, the Dive Team, the Aviation Unit, and the Field Training Instructor program. Lt. Mike Link is the officer in charge of Special Operations.

The Neighborhood Liaison Squad (NLS) provides Neighborhoold Liaison Officers to the many neighborhood associations throughout the community, crime prevention programs by the Community Services Unit, as well as focused covert enforcement operations with NET - the Neighborhood Enforcement Team. Lt. Larry Giddens is the officer in charge of the Neighborhood Liaison Squad.
