Meet the New Employees

DeAngelo Anthony

DeAngelo was born and raised by his parents George and Sonja Anthony in Lakeland, FL. He has one older brother, George Anthony, III, two beautiful daughters, DeAsia and DeMauria Anthony and an amazing girlfriend, Ambrya Lawrence. DeAngelo worked for the City of Lakeland Parks Department for 7 years before attending the police academy in 2013.

David Brown

David was born in Lakeland in 1988. He moved to Winter Haven where he attended Lake Region High School and graduated in 2006. Upon graduating high school, David attended Polk State College for one year. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007. After he did a tour of duty in Afghanistan, he got out of the Marines in 2011. David returned to Polk State College and finished his AA in Liberal Arts. He then went to the dual academy for the Sheriff’s office in 2012 and began his career in law enforcement working for the Polk County Sheriff’s office South County Jail. He is currently attending the University of Central Florida working toward his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and beginning his career with the Lakeland Police Department.

Charlie Craig

Charlie was born in Westchester, PA and moved to Lakeland in 1998. He attended Florida Southern College and received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2012. He attended the police academy at Polk State College, finishing in 2013. Charlie is beginning his law enforcement career with the Lakeland Police Department.

David Guptill

David was born in Miami, FL and moved to Lakeland in 1989. He attended Florida Gulf Coast University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. In 2003, David enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended training as an infantryman at Fort Benning, GA. He was selected to attend Airborne school and Special Operations Training. In 2008, David became a special agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. While assigned to the U.S. Army CID, he earned a master’s degree in National Security Studies concentrating in Intelligence Analysis and a graduate certificate in Forensic Accounting. In 2014, David moved back to Lakeland to become a Lakeland police officer.

Cory Lawson

Cory was born in Brandon, FL and lived in Dover, FL his entire life. He attended and graduated from Durant High School. Cory attended Hillsborough Community College and in 2010 received his AA of Science degree. He then attended the police academy through Hillsborough Community College and graduated in 2012. Cory is beginning his law enforcement career with the Lakeland Police Department.

Wayne Marrone

Wayne was born in Queens, NY and raised in Centereach, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines after graduating from high school, he served for 5 years. After his honorable discharge he was hired as a Honolulu, HI police officer. After several years, he relocated to Denver, CO and served with two departments over a 17 year period. During that time, he completed two years of college. In March 2014, he, his wife and two sons relocated to Lakeland to begin his career with the Lakeland Police Department and be closer to family. He is excited for this new chapter in his law enforcement career.

Kevin Schuttler

Kevin was born in Phoenix, AR. When he was 12 years old, his family relocated to Lakeland. He graduated from George Jenkins High School. In 2007, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Warner University. In September 2007, Kevin was hired by the Polk County Sheriff’s office as a Detention Deputy. In October 2010, he earned his standards in law enforcement. In February 2011, he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Polk County Sheriff’s office. Kevin is beginning his career with the Lakeland Police Department.

Shane Stinson

Shane was born and raised in Lakeland, FL. He graduated high school from McKeel Academy in 2011. Shane worked at his family owned business until entering the Polk State Police Academy in 2013. Shane is beginning his law enforcement career with the Lakeland Police Department.

Angela Ellis

Angela was born and raised in New York City, NY. When she graduated from high school, her family relocated to Miami, FL. She worked for TSA/Department of Homeland Security prior to pursuing a career with the Lakeland Police Department. Angela has joined the department as a Public Safety Aide.

David Sharrett

David was born and raised in Lakeland, FL. He spent 30 years working in the restaurant industry. David has spent the past two years working as an Emergency Communications Specialist at the Lakeland Police Department. He has also served as an Auxiliary Chaplain with the department. David is beginning his career as a Public Safety Aide.

Jessica Crawford – Crime Prevention Practitioner

Jessica graduated from South Lake High School in 2008.  During high school, she was a member of JROTC and Chorus.  After graduation she worked at Best Buy in multiple departments.  During her time there, Jessica had a daughter.  It became overwhelming trying to be a mom and work while her husband also worked two jobs.  She left Best Buy to become a stay-at-home mom.  Their daughter is now 4 years old and attends St. Joseph’s Academy.  Jessica and her husband moved back to Lakeland in 2010 when her husband accepted a job with the City, he’s Adam in IT.  She was able to start working again and has worked for Geico and AT&T in their call centers.  Jessica’s mother has always been active in law enforcement since she was young and it inspired her to pursue a similar career.  Her mother worked for PCSO in the motor unit and is currently a correctional officer in Orlando.  Helping her mom study to become a CO, is what first got Jessica interested in law enforcement.  She is excited to be here and look forward to a great career with LPD.

Kelsey Suhre – Crime Prevention Practitioner

Kelsey grew up in Redford, Michigan and Graduated from Thurston High School in 2010. She went to college at Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2013. In 2013 she moved to Florida after graduating from EMU, looking for employment & warmer weather! She began working at LPD in April 2014 as a Crime Prevention Practitioner.



Christa Patterson – Crime Prevention Practitioner
Christa was born and raised in Plant City, Florida where she graduated from Durant High School in 2004. Christa worked in Sales/ Marketing for 7 years before joining Plant City Police Department in 2011 where she worked as a Fl. State Certified Communications Specialist.  Christa joined the Lakeland Police Department in April of 2014 as a Crime Prevention Practitioner.



Kristin Wnuk Stokes – Victim Assistance Coordinator

Kristin Stokes joined the Lakeland Police Department in May of 2014.  She is a life-long resident of Polk County and a graduate of Kathleen Senior High School.  Kristin worked in Lakeland as a legal assistant and paralegal for 12 years, and received national certification through NALA in 1996.  Focused areas of law included Criminal, Personal Injury, Real Estate, Foreclosure, Imminent Domain, Civil Litigation, Corporate, Probate and Estate Planning.

Kristin began working for the Polk County School Board as a Professional School Counselor with Student Services in August of 2000.  She served as a member of the County’s Crisis Response Team for 12 years and also served as a Referral Coordinator for Exceptional Student Education.  She was a school liaison with the Department of Children and Families and provided counseling services to address behavioral, academic and social/emotional needs.  Kristin received certification as a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of School Counseling in 2006 from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.  She has been a professional member of the American Counseling Association for the past 13 years.

Kristin possesses an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Polk Community College.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (minored in American Sign Language) from the University of South Florida in 1996, and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of South Florida in 2001.  Kristin has recently completed advanced coursework in Animal Assisted Therapy from the University of North Texas for use with her registered therapy dog.  Additionally, Kristin has completed the Victim Assistance Training online course through the Office of Justice/Office for Victims of Crime.

Carissa Cooley – Emergency Communications Specialist

Carissa Cooley was born in upstate New York in 1992 and her family moved to Brandon, FL in 1994. She attended Hillsborough Community College before beginning her career with the Lakeland Police Department.




Shannon Layton Rogers – Emergency Communications Specialist

Shannon was born in Bartow in 1974 and grew up in Mulberry and South Lakeland. She graduated Mulberry High School in 1992, attended Polk Community College from 1992-1994 for her A.A. and then completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Sociology at the University of South Florida in 1996. Most of her career has been spent in office and personnel management and she is extremely excited to begin a new career in Public Safety as an Emergency Communication Specialist.


Arin Trisel – Emergency Communications Specialist

Arin is originally from northern Michigan where she was raised and later attended Lake Superior State University. She graduated in 2000 with and Associates in Corrections and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law Enforcement. Arin then worked as a Public Safety Officer and dispatcher for the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI until 2008 when she joined the Army. After competing Officer Candidate School in 2009, Arin branched Air Defense Artillery and was assigned to work with the PATRIOT Missile system acting as Tactical Command Officer and Recon, Selection and Occupation of Position Officer, among other miscellaneous duties. After one deployment and earning the rank of Captain, Arin honorably discharged from the Army and moved to Lakeland.
