Welcome to the Lakeland Police Department

The Lakeland Police Department is committed to the philosophy of community-oriented policing, a partnership with the residents of Lakeland to solve problems and improve the quality of life for the entire community. Part of that partnership is to provide open communications with our public partners.

Our goal is to make the website a center of communications with the community in addition to our social media outlets of Twitter, Facebook, and our blogs. We hope you will take advantage of our new website and keep up with the steady flow of information we offer here. Let us know how we can improve our service to you.

In a May 2013 letter to the community, Chief Lisa Womack outlines the successes that Lakeland Police had in 2012. To see her letter to the community and the 2012 LPD Annual Report, please click the links below.

Click It or Ticket Safety Belt Enforcement Wave

The Lakeland Police Department will join with departments across the state in the Click It or Ticket Safety Belt Enforcement Wave. The enforcement runs from May 20, 2013 thru June 2, 2013 at midnight.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHSTA), the use of seatbelts rose from 84% in 2011 to 86% in 2012. The trend has shown steady increase since 1994 and a decrease in the percentage of unrestrained passenger vehicle occupant fatalities during daytime.

While the Click It or Ticket campaigns have shown increased seat belt usage over the years, there is more that needs to be done. The Lakeland Police Department will be out doing high-visibility enforcement, and we ask our residents to buckle up and to encourage their loved ones to do the same. We can make a difference in the number of lives saved by doing this one simple thing.

Florida is a primary law state, which means that occupants can be ticketed for simply not using their safety restraints.
