Police Searching for Missing/Endangered Adult

The Lakeland Police Department is requesting assistance from the community in locating a Missing/Endangered Adult.

Quentin Dion Melvin was last seen in the area of 501 Hartsell Avenue #6 at approximately 1:00 a.m.  on 10/25/13. Melvin left on foot for a walk and has not returned. Mevlin has mental health issues and is on medication. Melvin has black hair, short dreads, and brown eyes. Melvin was last seen wearing a red, short sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and black clog-like “Croc” shoes. Melvin has a scar on his right forearm and another scar over his left eyebrow. Family members state that this is the first time Melvin has gone missing from home. Melvin walks from home to local businesses in the area of his home.

Police Investigate Homicide

On October 24, 2013 at approximately 10:12 p.m., several 911 calls were received about gunshots in the area of Gilmore Avenue and Parker Street. Patrol Officers responded and upon arrival located an adult male with a gunshot wound. The unknown male was found lying in the front yard of 708 East Parker Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The decedent has not been positively identified. An autopsy has been scheduled.

There are no arrests and no further details are being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. As further information becomes available, updates will be released.


Police Investigate Aggravated Battery - Shooting

On October 24, 2013 at approximately 9:24 p.m., the Lakeland Police Department responded to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, investigating officers found the victim, 17 year old Omega Henry. Investigating officers discovered that Henry and two other friends were walking southbound in the 1100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard when he was shot. All three subjects advised that a Green Chevrolet Yukon drove by them heading southbound and several shots were fired from the vehicle. As Henry and his friends fled on foot, Henry was shot once and Henry was transported to LRMC by a friend where he underwent surgery. His current condition at this time is unknown.

Detectives responded to investigate the incident which is currently on-going at this time. No arrests have been made and detectives are currently following up on additional leads.
