Captain Rick Taylor
Captain Taylor began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a Military Police officer in the Army National Guard. In 1993, he was a police officer for the City of Titusville. He eventually joined the Lakeland Police Department in 1996. Captain Taylor has served in the Uniform Patrol Division, Patrol Tactical Unit, Neighborhood Liaison Squad, Street Crimes, SWAT and Internal Affairs as a Staff Inspector.
Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2009, where he served in the Uniform Patrol Division, Neighborhood Liaison Squad and the Officer in Charge of the K-9 Unit. Captain Taylor was the Entry Team Leader on SWAT and a member of four first place SWAT Round-Up teams. In 20013, he was promoted to the rank of Captain where he served as the Commanding Officer over the Special Operations Division in the Special Operations Bureau. Captain Taylor currently serves as the Commanding Officer of the Investigative Services Division.
Captain Taylor holds an Associates of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Polk State College. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police Class 52, and a graduate of the Florida State University Certified Public Manager Program.
