Today the Lakeland Police Department boarded up a known drug house at 1220 Wright Drive and posted signage stating the house was closed as a public nuisance. The Nuisance Abatement Board ordered the closing of the property because it has a reputation as a location where controlled substances are illegally possessed and can be purchased. The landlord refused to correct the problem. The house will be closed for a period of one year.

After receiving numerous narcotic complaints on a drug hotline, an investigation was conducted by the Special Investigations Section. During the investigation, crack cocaine and marijuana was purchased from the house. In addition, during a search warrant, more controlled substances (over 100 pills), 95 pills of MDMA (commonly referred to as “ecstasy”, cash, two loaded firearms and supplies for cooking, weighing and packaging cocaine was found.
